Onward to Crete!

The 2nd day was really long since we didn't really sleep that night- the 2nd day blurred into the 3rd day. After a traditional Greek dinner of Vleeta( NOT velvleeta!) this is wild green that is boiled gently and drizzled with olive oil, lemon and salt...homemade tzazeeki, two kinds of fish- one baked and small ones that are battered and fried, a chicken stew over pasta for the kids, freshly baked bread from the bakery and for dessert...green melon.

Typical in a Greek home..icons of various saints. As we get deeper into the villages I'll make sure to take pix of the churches, iconostasies, monasteries and more.

You can see from our pictures that we stumbled upon a unique wedding, a fisherman in a pink bikini bottom- the ultimate European bathing suit, and the most exciting thing that gets me every time we are there... touching the old rock wall from the time of Pericles.  Interested in more about this handsome ancient?  http://www.ancientgreece.com/s/People/Pericles/

Ancient rock wall- remnants throughout Athens

You know you are in Europe when you see a man in a pink speedo fishing

The kids touching an ancient rock, part of the rock wall built around Athens to keep out the Persian and other invaders.  Think about all the ancient hands that have touched this rock!

  1. Any pictures? Is the photographer having too much fun? You all must be pretty tired with no sleep. Hope you have settled in.
